Garage Sales
Saturday mornings are quickly becoming one of my favorite times of the week. I wake up my son, go get donuts, and drive around our small town looking for....GARAGE SALES! Not only am I finding AMAZING glassware and vintage items, but also getting cherished, quality time with my son. We go out almost every Saturday looking for perfect rental pieces (and toys of course!). He's even gotten where he can tell if its a good sale. He'll say, "Nope, Mama - just clothes here. Keep driving." I love him so much! That being said - garage sales are my favorite place to find unique and vintage pieces for our rentals. These are what I found this last weekend along with books (got a new Home and Garden Bridal Edition cookbook for $2!!), a talking Mark Cuban doll ($2) still in box and in working condition (my sweet husband is a DIE HARD Mavericks fan), and some toys for my sweet baby. Here are my great finds:
Glass Dome - $.05; Margarita Glasses set of 4 - $2
Yellow Vintage Suitecase - $2; IKEA Cake Stand (still in box!) - $3

Pretty Little Planners - The Future
I feel like I've finally found my passion through Pretty Little Planners. Going to garage sales to find that great piece, researching party inspirations and picturing how I would do it, and the prospect of entertaining my friends and loved ones - what is better? The hard part? Knowing where to go next or limiting/editing myself to stay true to my vision. Teaching myself new things like computer programing and graphic design - maybe even some photography! I know this is just the beginning and I'm so excited. I know I'll need some help along the way and some collaboration, but I'm super blessed that I have some amazing and talented friends!
Today I want to share one of these amazing and talented friends who is also pursuing HER DREAMS! She has come up with a simple yet genius fashion blog. She is a lover of ALL things BEAUTIFUL-especially clothes! She is taking the top trends and right now styles and sharing with East Texas the local spots to find these fashions (and how to apply it to real life from runway). Go check her out at trends-with-benefits
LIFE IS SO EXCITING - don't let your dreams pass you by!! Endless amount of possibilities - ok I'll stop - gosh I'm very optimistic tonight!!!

30 Rocks!
My dear friend celebrates her 30th Birthday this year. She is a one-of-a-kind girl with a true love for music. What better way to recognize this milestone than to throw a "30 Rocks! Birthday Party". We had a couple of rock games and mexican themed food. Such a fun time with a great friends - no better way to spend a Saturday night!!
Key Points:
- Entertainment - games are a great way to break the ice and keep the party moving. I had the guests draw numbers (so couples would be broken up) and we played a Rock Music Themed "Catch Phrase". The winners got the Rock Star Doll.
-Food - finger and "grazing" foods are always perfect for gatherings. I had chips and salsa on the table with the Birthday Girl's cupcake. I had a buffet table with taco "fixings" and biscuit empanadas.
-Themed Decor - DIY Cakestands - $2; Rockstar Doll, Hobby Lobby - $5; Personalized Picture Frame, Ross - $5.

Corbin's Super 7th Birthday Celebration
My son Corbin knew one thing for sure when I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday party this year. He wanted a SUPERHERO theme (which was perfect since The Avengers opened the same weekend). Here are some of the pics from the party!
Some Key Points:
Entertainment for Kids - I had a station set up for the kids to make super hero wrist-bands. I pre-made the bracelets with cardstock, felt, and ribbon. The kids then used shapes and glitter glue to decorate.
Party Favors: - I had several glass containers that I taped super hero themed powers (Shapeshifting, Laser Vision, and Flying) and filled with candy for the kids to put in super bags.
Photobooth: Usually at Halloween Corbin chooses a Super Hero to dress as so we had costumes for the kids to "dress up" in.
*Tip - buy extra costumes after Halloween in a size or two larger to last longer

A Dream Is Awakened...
The above pictures are from my wedding, September 10, 2011. I loved every bit of the wedding process. I so enjoyed the planning process in fact, it inspired me to create Pretty Little Planners, an event and party planning business. And what good is it to have all these beautiful pictures if they just stay in a drawer or album somewhere? So Pretty Little Planners also creates scrapbooks to capture all your wonderful memories.
